Error: "We cannot access your Swiftpage account at this time – Please make sure your Internet connection is active and try again." When Trying to Access Sage E-Marketing for ACT!

This error can occur after upgrading your database from ACT! by Sage 2010 to Sage ACT! 2011. In order to resolve this issue, you will need to completely remove all Swiftpage accounts information from the ACT! database and from the preferences file. Please follow the steps below:

IMPORTANT: During this process, all users with Swiftpage accounts that use Sage E-Marketing for ACT! must exit the database and a database lock must be initiated to prevent them logging back in. This process will need to be performed at the machine hosting the database and all machines that have remote databases that sync with the main database. If the computer hosting the database is Windows Vista®, Windows® 7, or Windows Server® 2008 based, you will need to disable User Account Control (UAC) before running the included utility. Click the links below for instructions on how to disable UAC and how to lock the database:

Note: These steps only need to be run on computers that host database(s) accessing Swiftpage. If a database being used to access a Swiftpage account is a Subscriber (remote) database, the steps will need to be performed on the computer where the subscriber database is physically located.

  1. Close Sage ACT! and ensure that all users are logged out the database.
  2. Click the Windows® Start button and either select Run or go the Search box on the Start menu. Type in %appdata% and press Enter on your keyboard.
  3. In the AppData window, open the ACT! and then the ACT! Data folder.
  4. Locate and delete the Preferences folder and all PreferencesBAK* files.

Note: Opening the database on a machine where the preferences file has not been deleted will cause you to have to start the process all over.

  5. Open the ACT! Diagnostics utility you downloaded.
  6. When the utility opens, click Databases > Database List from the menu.
  7. Locate your database on the list and highlight it by clicking the square to the left of it.
  8. On the menu, select Actions > Reset Database Preferences.
  9. In the Select Preferences dialog box, check the box for Delete preferences based on this keyword. Type in the keyword Swiftpage.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Open the database in Sage ACT!, click the E-Marketing tab, and setup the Swiftpage account normally.
  12. Once you have completed setting up the account, go to the Tools menu and select Lock/Unlock Database to unlock it.
